Social Media Bootcamp
Session I - Monday, December 3rd from 6:00 - 9:00 pm
Session II - Sunday, December 9th from 10:00-1:00pm
Session III - Monday, December 17th from 6:00-9:00pm

This 3-session series introduces students to the current social media landscape and explores how it can be used for maximum results (for brands as well as agencies). Participants will leave with a detailed understanding of both the current social media landscape and how to evaluate which tools or social platforms are the best fit for their organization's strategic goals.

Topics to be covered will include: an overview of social media platforms, current social media trends and their implications, how to tailor social media tools to your existing business strategies and social media tools for monitoring and ROI.

Case studies and tactics will be presented throughout the session and participants will gain hands on knowledge through breakout sessions.

Session I [The Basics] (12/3 - 6pm to 9pm)

Understand what types of social media platforms are available and how they are used
Look at case studies on effective use of social media
Learn best practices on how to engage people

Session II [Monitoring and Research] (12/9 - 10am to 1pm)

Look at monitoring, research and engagement tools available to marketers and brands
Learn to evaluate social standing of a brand
Engage users via social platforms

Session III [Measuring ROI and Effectiveness] (12/17 - 6pm to 9pm)

Examine social media engagement strategies
Learn tools and techniques to measure effectiveness and ROI
Measure effectiveness using free tools

Level Prerequisites:
Beginner.

Preparation:
Each student should bring a laptop or iPad with them for use during break-out sessions.

Chris Gee is an experienced agency executive with an exceptional understanding of digital strategy and social engagement. During the course of his career he has continuously evolved with each technological innovation that has transformed the landscape of advertising, marketing, branding and interactive communication. Chris has held positions as Digital Creative Director, Creative Director and Managing Director for numerous agencies and organizations and has done award-winning work for iconic brands like Coke, Hormel Foods, SPAM, Jell-O, Jennie-O and HP. Chris holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts, where he currently sits on the Alumni Council and advises on digital outreach to engage the alumni community.
