Intro to Biz Dev: How to Effectively Sell Yourself (and the stuff you're selling)
Session I - Tuesday, January 8th from 6:00 - 8:30 pm
Session II - Tuesday, January 15th from 6:00-8:30pm
Session III - Tuesday, January 22nd from 6:00-8:00pm
Session IV - Tuesday, January 29th from 6:00-9:00pm

Learning how to most effectively sell both your product and yourself is a key component in growing a successful business. This four-part workshop series provides a detailed understanding of the sales process, from identifying your audience and making key customer connections, to creating effective presentations and nailing the pitch. Students will come away with valuable sales and networking techniques, as well as a Short Form, Elevator Pitch, and Sales Presentation.

Session I - Introduction to Selling, Targeting, and Connecting (1/8)

Identifying your ideal customer Building a business development pipeline Crafting the proper message for connecting to your audience


Session II - Networking, Pitching, and Closing (1/15)

Developing a productive network Strategy, style, and tools for creating the right pitch How to effectively negotiate and close


Session III - Special Deals, Partnerships, and Run-Throughs (1/22)

Understanding of different promotion types Utilizing marketing and sponsorship for special events Developing strategic partnerships


Session IV - Final Presentations/Networking Event(1/29)

Student presentations with critique from panel comprised of real-world Business Development/Marketing/Media/Adv-PR executives


Prerequisites: A great desire to sell, an open mind, and the ultimate can-do attitude (a great smile won’t hurt you either)

Cutler has a thorough insider’s knowledge of media companies with past stints as Director, Sports & Event Marketing at USA TODAY and Publisher/USA TODAY Baseball Weekly; Executive Vice President/Sports Sales & Marketing at Turner Broadcasting; Sr. Vice President/Sales & Business Development at CBS Television Stations Digital Media Group, and is also very well connected with professional/ amateur sports leagues, teams, venues, properties, athlete/celebrities and their major sponsor partners.
