We often seek a career transition to find more meaningful work or a mission that connects with us personally. This search leads many to shift their focus to the nonprofit sector which can be both exhilarating and daunting at the same time. Whatever stage you are in your career transition, going through a process of informed reflection and developing a clear plan of action is crucial to your success. 

This workshop is designed to help you reinvent yourself; steep yourself in the world of nonprofit work, and begin to map out a strategy to achieve your career transition. The first step is to fully understand the realities of what its really like to work in an organization and to be able to articulate, both to yourself and eventually to others, your motivation to change sectors. What is missing in your current experience that you seek in the nonprofit sector? How do you foresee a job at a nonprofit addressing that gap? From there, crafting a job search is more complicated when you are transitioning sectors. This workshop will help you to translate your skills and accomplishments to fulfill the needs of a nonprofit.

Lynn Weitzman is a career coach and organizational development specialist. Lynn works with mid-career professionals looking to re-enter the workforce, specifically the nonprofit sector. Lynn has over 15 years experience in talent development and organizational management with the NYC Office of the Mayor, New York State Psychiatric Institute, New York University, Columbia University, and New York State Governor's Office. Throughout the twists and turns of Lynn's career, she relied on a close network of colleagues and mentors to help her navigate the challenges and choices so many face as they are cultivating a career. She is now energized by paying it forward, working with women and career changers to help them find their voices and rediscover their professional self.

Lynn Weitzman is the founder of OPT-IN consulting, a firm that supports the transition of skilled professional back to the nonprofit workplace after an extended absence. Lynn is also the Director of Coaching and Curriculum Strategy for <A STYLE="text-decoration: none;" HREF="http://www.apresgroup.com" REL="nofollow">Aprs</A>, a digital recruiting platform for women looking to reenter the workforce. 

Lynn received her B.A. in Philosophy of Politics and Law from Binghamton University and her Masters in Public Administration from the Robert F Wagner School of Public Service at NYU. She is certified in Myers Brigg Personality Assessment (MBTI) and 360 Assessment (Center for Creative Leadership). She received her certificate in executive coaching from CoachU.
