Looking at an image & having to describe the contents of the image gives a rich set of opportunities to humans to describe it in multiple ways. Not just the names of the objects in the image, but the relative position & proportion of the images could be explained in different ways. In addition, the task gets even diverse when one has to explain the details of interaction between objects in the image. The initial solution of hard coded visual concepts & sentence templates would not work & also are restrictive.

The modern day Image captioning solutions include Multimodal RNN, pre-trained CNN models on large Image datasets & the required image datasets. I will discuss the fundamentals of Neural Networks, talk about text processing using RNNs, explain the current state-of-the-art in pre-training CNN models on large image datasets & share the details of how to create a complex model to train & infer on images & text.

Attendees: Beginners & intermediate skilled in image processing

What to expect: Attendees will understand the concepts, discuss the building blocks of NLP & image Processing. You will learn the practical approaches to build an Image Captioning model.

Karunkar Singamreddy (SK) is the Chief Product Officer, AI & ML at Digitalist Group (www.digitalistgroup.com) & a successful twice start-up entrepreneur. He is a frequent speaker in conferences & meetups. Additionally, he is a ML/NLP blogger. He believes that machine learning enthusiasts are looking for ML/NLP sessions where they can understand more of 'how' rather than 'what'.

His focus is to develop ML models to combine image & text processing. Also he has developed solutions in text summarization, question-answering & text mining.
