Description

Dear hardwarians,

It's time for the next hardware startup meetup (sorry for the long time in coming), and we're being hosted by NYU Poly's awesome incubator on Varick street. As usual, we'll have some pretty phenomenal speakers and some great startups pitching.

As you may know, Mayor Bloomberg and the EDC just launched a prototyping competition, where 6 lucky winning teams will get money, space, access to sponsored manufacturing and mentorship to accelerate to market. The press release is here. We'll have Alison Hodgson and Miquela Craytor from the EDC explain the competition and take any questions. On a similar note, Ben Einstein will be presenting Bolt, a new hardware accelerator to start in Boston. And we'll have 2 amazing startup companies pitch.

Agenda:

7:00 - 7:15pm: arrival, pizza and beer

7:15 - 7:35pm: Alison Hodgson and Miquela Craytor, NYCEDC, Prototyping competition

7:35 - 7:50pm: Bein Einstein, cofounder of Bolt, hardware accelerator

7:50 - 8:00pm: Adam Sager and Chris Rill, founder of Force Field Labs

8:00 - 8:10pm: Craig Batton, demoing "The Bonsai"

8:10 - 9:30pm: networking

As usual, there'll be pizza and beer, and I've put a $5 fee (through paypal) to cover it. If you prefer not to use paypal, then RSVP and you can give me the money in person on the night (although I'd prefer it if you pay online).

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!

Haytham
