A big online following can be the difference between being seen as a success or not seen at all. But what does your online community really do for you? Are they just sign ups who never show up, who Like but never volunteer, who share but don't make a real-world contribution to the cause?

On Wednesday May 27th, #DesigningChange will take a look at what you can do with all those Twitter followers, Facebook fans, Linkedin connections and that endless scroll of Newsletter contacts.

We'll discuss how impact minded organizations and individuals can leverage their online following by finding out:

Who really is your online community? What do you want from them? What do they want from you?

How can you make your followers and fans not only care but act?

How do you leverage their interest in your cause into something more- an active, engaged, and caring community that will make a real and tangible difference online and in the off?

With two awesome panelists and a few great examples, well discuss everything from leveraging Hashtag Activism to the importance of real life events and in person interaction.

Date: Wednesday May 27th

Doors Open at 6:30

Panel Starts at 7 PM

Livestream starts at 7:15 PM!

Location: Livestream Public

We can't wait to see you! And if you can't make it, we'll be streaming the event with Livestream again...So tune in or stop by, it's going to be an amazing night!

SPEAKERS

Amy Vernon is co-founder and CMO of Predictable.ly, a predictive analytics platform for news publishers. A 20-year veteran of newspaper journalism and top female submitter of all time on the late Digg.com, Amy is sought-after for advice on how to navigate the social web. Business Insider and Peer Index named her the 15th most influential woman in tech on Twitter and she was an inaugural inductee of the New Jersey Social Media Hall of Fame. Amy has consulted for a wide variety of institutions, ranging from tech startups to international media organizations, on how to harness their community, develop shareable content and put in place best practices in their digital strategy. Amy has blogged for many sites, including VentureBeat, The Next Web, Network World, and Discovery.coms Parentables and has driven literally millions of page views through her work. Shes also a mom, wife and Siberian Husky owner.

Katherine Lynch is the Program Manager for Kiva Zip in NYC. Since joining the Zip team in August, 2014, she has onboarded over 60 new entrepreneurs to the platform and grown the program to fully fund its 100th borrower. After receiving feedback that a starting loan with a maximum of $5,000 was too little to satisfy the needs of NYC entrepreneurs, Katherine secured starting loans of up to $10,000 to increase Kiva Zip's impact within this unique market. Katherine began her impact career working at both Accion East and Grameen America - two microfinances also serving NYC small businesses. Katherine has a BS in Psychology from Washington University in St Louis and an MS in Social Enterprise Administration from Columbia University. She believes strongly in the power of domestic microfinance to change the lives of the entrepreneurs within her own community.
