<P STYLE="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8000001907349px; line-height: normal;"><SPAN STYLE="color: #500050; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8000001907349px;"><SPAN STYLE="color: #000000;">Musician, video artist and developer Ari Russo will demonstrate programs he has written for music-making and live video performance.</SPAN><BR><BR></SPAN><SPAN STYLE="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8000001907349px;">Ari will give a history and overview of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) as well as other modes of performance control, delving into how and why his work evolved out of these concepts. He'll demonstrate the suite of general-use Ruby Gems he's created, as well programs he's created utilizing them for his own art and music.</SPAN><BR STYLE="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8000001907349px;"><BR STYLE="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8000001907349px;"><SPAN STYLE="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8000001907349px;">Ari has been coding with Ruby since 2004 and professionally since 2008. In 2014, he performed in the US and Europe as a live video artist using Ruby-based software and also released a record of his music "Wild Metals" on the Valcrond Video label. His video "<A HREF="http://hangout.altsounds.com/features/168713-altsounds-exclusive-premiere-watch-russo-pressure-palace.html" TARGET="_blank" REL="nofollow">Pressure Palace</A>" was recently released on the Brooklyn label New Ancestors. He is a co-organizer of <A HREF="http://monthlymusichackathon.org/" TARGET="_blank" REL="nofollow">Monthly Music Hackathon NYC</A> and is currently a senior developer at <A HREF="https://www.paperlesspost.com/" TARGET="_blank" REL="nofollow">Paperless Post</A>.</SPAN></P>
