Description
THE FEAST CONFERENCE HACKATHON 2012
Thursday, Oct 4 - Friday Oct 5th
New York, NY
feastongood.com
The Feast Conference (October 3-5, NYC) convenes the most remarkable entrepreneurs, radicals, doers and thinkers who are revolutionizing the way things work for the betterment of humanity. With a focus on action, our theme this year is the "Power of Community." We're excited to be partnering with Intel to explore this by helping communities and the public at large share, understand and create value from their own collective data.
Broad challenge
Each of us is creating data at a faster rate than ever before. Meanwhile cities and governments are making more and more civic data freely available. Help people reveal the opportunities hidden at the intersection of these two emergent forms of data.
If you're a smart developer or designer, we challenge you to design a tool that utilizes the data that is being or could be created in the public and private realms to help improve the lives of one of the following people:
1. Elderly person in the city
2. Young mom of 2 kids with a low income in the city
You'll get a brief overview of all the key technologies you need, and then you'll have two days to build something amazing and make it open source. At the end, you'll be able to show it off at the conference, which will be live streamed to thousands of Feast Worldwide participants.
PERKS
The Hackathon officially starts at 9am on Oct 4th, but as a hackathon participant, you have full access to all the 2012 Feast conference events.
