Join us for a discussion on underrepresented groups in venture capital and building inclusive startup ecosystems.

Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the night. Come meet the latino circuit in NYC and a mix of venture capital, angel investors, entrepreneurs and technologists.

We will talk about how to raise funding as a latino entrepreneur, how to break into the venture capital sector, how to build your brand & network and some of the advantages and disadvantages underrepresented groups face in the larger venture/tech sector.

Panelists
Ramphis Castro (ScienceVest) is the co-founder of ScienceVest (YC F3), a fund and platform for hard-tech and life science companies, and Impact Science Angels, an angel group focused on investing in companies that can impact 1MM+ lives. He is a Kauffman Fellow, a community representing 160 venture firms and corporate venture groups in 40 countries on 6 continents, that have collectively deployed $200B in venture capital. He has served as policy adviser on entrepreneurship, technology, and economic development policy to leaders in Puerto Rico, Norway, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Guatemala, among others. As an entrepreneur, he has launched and successfully commercialized intellectual property now used across multiple industries around the world. His background includes undergraduate studies in computer engineering, a Juris Doctor with a focus on AI and robotics law, and graduate studies in public policy, entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship education.

Monika Mantilla (Altura Capital Group) is the President and CEO Altura Capital an investment management firm that specializes in emerging managers and the quickly expanding emerging domestic market. She is also Managing Partner at Small Business Community Capital, SBCC. She is committed to building financial capacity in underserved communities and has been awarded "2010 Hispanic Heritage Award"the highest honor for Latinos by Latinosin the business category, the 2015 Woman of the Year (New York City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce), 2010 "Entrepreneur of the Year" (New York State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce), the 2010 "New York City Entrepreneur of the Year" (Latina Style Magazine and Business Series), the 2012 Women of Excellence Award (New York Women Chamber of Commerce)

Tony Quinones (Cavendish Impact Capital) is an impact investor and Managing Partner at Cavendish Impact Capital. Tony has successfully commercialized sophisticated technology across various industries. He has managed multi-million dollar accounts while executing strategy and leading project finance in multiple start-up tech companies with a successful track record in building global businesses and leading them to successful exits.

Alejandro Guardiola (SeedChange) is a Partner at SeedChange, a Venture Capital firm in San Francisco that specializes in early-stage finance for technology startups. He is a member of the Vault in San Francisco, an innovative startup ecosystem based on the belief that people work better together. The group delivers the infrastructure, programming, and a collaborative community to jump-start the journey to success. Alejandro is a former Portfolio Manager with UBS International, where he ran discretionary equity and derivative portfolios for his teams clients. Prior to this role, he served as the Sales Manager at UBS Downtown Miami branch where he partnered and traveled with advisors to provide tailored solutions to high net worth families across Latin America.
