Hi everyone,

Happy Monday!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Professor Michael Klling's Talk on Greenfoot this past week. If you weren't able to join us, you can check out the video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ii3BWm7cL14&feature=em-upload_owner.

We plan to make all videos from past meetups available soon, so stay tuned!

Going forth, we will start the meetup w/ two workshops and use the 2nd breakout session for unconference style discussions and exchange. Thank you to Cornell Tech for hosting us for the next one!

In April, we have two great speakers lined up for the Scratch Meetup:

1. Steve Lewis will demo Make!Sense sensor interface boards to demonstrate how Scratch can go beyond its borders into the physical, mobile and virtual worlds. Video - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1978340629/makesense-a-universal-interface-for-learning

2. Sara Vogel from Global Kids (http://www.globalkids.org/) will talk about using Scratch w/ bilingual students (esp. Spanish speakers)

If you'd like to present at our next meetup, please fill out this form! We'd love to hear from more of you - bit.ly/scratchWorkshop

In unrelated but amazing news - Today is the 5th White House Science Fair, and two of our students will be in attendance: AFSE 11th grader Esi McAllen and BASE 9th grader Shemar DaCosta, both of whom were recognized for apps they developed with teammates at recent hackathons. Learn a bit more about Shemar here - http://bronx.news12.com/news/bronx-student-shemar-dacosta-heads-to-white-house-science-fair-1.10101778

Additionally, Esi is one of 12 girls invited to participate in a "Women & Girls in STEM" roundtable with White House senior leadership that morning.
