Hi everyone!

Happy May Day! It's my favorite month of the year (Oct is a close second). Isn't it everyone's favorite with such great weather (not too cold, not too sweaty) and summer to look forward to?

I'm sure you all miss your students when summer comes around, but you all deserve some rest, relaxation, and a little reflection on how the past school year went. Come get a jump start on your summer with our last CSNYC evening event of the school year: a CS Teaching Tips - Diversity Tip-A-Thon with Professor Colleen Lewis!

Colleen Lewis is a professor of computer science at Harvey Mudd College, with a specialization in computer science education. She researches how people learn computer science and how they feel about learning computer science. Her research seeks to identify effective teaching practices for creating equitable learning spaces where all students have the opportunity to learn. Her most recent projects include providing teaching tips to CS teachers at CS Teaching Tips and on Twitter @CSTeachingTips.

Before the Tip-A-Thon, Professor Lewis will share her research on equity in computer science education, and her work on designing, implementing and evaluating diversity initiatives at Harvey Mudd College and UC Berkeley. She will share her experiences and discuss how the interventions at each institution were shaped by local factors and educational research.

Be the person who uses their teaching insight to help other teachers, come join us for our last event. CSTeachingTips.org cannot exist without you. Professor Lewis and her team are excited to see you all at the Diversity Tip-A-Thon where we will work together to turn your classroom experience into teaching tips. These tips will be added to CSTeachingTips.org so they can be used by the CS education community at large!

Have a lovely weekend!
Cindy
