Description
WalkaboutNYC is a citywide open house event for technology companies. Curious New Yorkers can stop by and check out their workspaces, see how they work, and meet the people leading the technology movement in NYC.
Who is invited?
Everyone. RSVP to any participating company for your spot to get a behind-the-scenes look at the space, and how they work. For companies hosting open hours, feel free to drop by their offices during their designated open hours, they’d love to show you around.
The Story Behind WalkaboutNYC
Danny Wen and Shawn Liu, the founders of Harvest, have always enjoyed taking tours of creative and entrepreneurial workspaces. No matter what size, they found the spaces always fostered inspirational energy. Today, Harvest HQ has become a gathering point where the founders invite others to visit their workspace and share their tools of the trade.
In an effort to enable others to benefit from these types of experiences, the team at Harvest created the first WalkaboutNYC in 2010. Alongside their friends and colleagues, it’s important to have a “show-and-tell†that brings the community together for a citywide open house of technology companies. The goal is simple: to put New York City’s vibrant tech scene on the map, and to inspire each other and the growing generation of entrepreneurs.
Walkabout Expands Internationally
After learning of WalkaboutNYC, Voxel, an Internap Company, decided to bring this idea to one of their home bases, Singapore. On May 11, 2012 the first ever WalkaboutSG will be taking place. The philosophy is the same, inspire people in the local technology community to explore the spaces, culture and unique energy of Singapore.
