About Will and Matt:
Will Ballard is CTO at Gerson Lehrman Group, where he oversees the Engineering and IT Organizations. Before GLG he was VP of Technology and Engineering at Demand Media and before that he was VP and CTO of Pluck, which was acquired by Demand. At both organizations he managed large teams of engineers responsible for software architecture, design, development and quality assurance. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Mathematics from Claremont McKenna College. He was also responsible for the design and operation of large data lefts that helped run site services for customers including Gannett, Hearst Magazines, NFL.com, NPR, The Washington Post and Whole Foods.
Matt is Director of Engineering at AxialMarket, overseeing the Corps of Engineers. He is responsible for setting and executing the company’s technical vision and building the team of technologists to execute the company’s overall vision. Prior to AxialMarket, he was the infrastructure lead at Tablet Inc, a travel e-commerce website. Matt’s passions include developing operating systems, with open-source contributions to the FreeBSD Operating System and the Bash UNIX shell. His technical interests and proficiencies include File-Systems, Queueing, Socket Programming and Inter-System Communication (SOA). He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago.
