Join early Google employees Louis Perrochon, Karen Roter Davis, Jack Levin, & Mendel Chuang (moderator) for a discussion about lessons learned from working at Google. The event will be on Wednesday, May 24th, from 3-5pm at Stanford. Light refreshments will be served. This event is co-hosted by the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (CES) at Stanford GSB & FFL Startup Accelerator.
Louis Perrochon
Louis Perrochon was a Vice President of Engineering at eBay, responsible for engineering in eBay Marketplaces. Previously, he worked at Google from 2003-2014, where he led engineering teams behind many notable projects, including YouTube, Checkout, Maps Enterprise & Google Earth. In each role, he led all engineering development & operations, including web front ends, APIs, & all backend infrastructure.
Louis graduated in computer science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zrich) & held research positions at Humboldt University Berlin, Germany & Stanford University.
Karen Roter Davis
Karen rejoined Google as Director, Global Geo Strategy & Business Development, after its late 2016 acquisition of Urban Engines, a movement analytics startup, where as the company's first business hire she was General Manager. Previously, Karen served as Managing Director of GE Digital, where she kick-started partnership, acquisition, & investment strategies to advance GE's Industrial Internet capabilities across its multi-billion dollar industrial businesses. Karen was an interim executive at several startups before GE, driving strategy, growth, & key hires. Prior, as a Google executive, Karen helped grow AdSense from near inception to several hundred million dollar run-rate, led internal operations for Google's 2004 IPO-for which she received a Founders Award-and worked with executives, engineers, & product managers on early-stage ads, geo, & energy-related incubation & exploratory efforts from inception to scale. An advisor to angel- & venture-backed start-ups, Karen holds an MBA/JD from Northwestern & a BA in Public & International Affairs from Princeton, & serves on the Boards of XP Solutions & Data Arts.
Jack Levin
Jack Levin is the Founder & CEO of Nventify, a company that develops cloud based software solutions, rapidly becoming part of the cloud infrastructure stack. Previously, he was the CEO & Co-Founder of ImageShack.com & yfrog.com. He met Larry & Sergey at Google in 1999, soon after becoming one of the early Infrastructure Engineers, overseeing partnerships with Netscape, Yahoo, AOL, ASK & many others.
He is also an early seed investor, doing about 5 to 10 investments per year. His investment interests include Mobile Consumer Internet, SAAS, & Cloud technology startups.
Mendel Chuang (moderator)
Mendel Chuang graduated from MIT with two degrees & joined Google in 2004. During his 5 years at Google, he worked on a variety of projects including Google Desktop, Toolbar, Blogger, AdWords, & AdSense, where he won the Google Founders Award. He was the Co-Founder & CEO of a mobile startup & is now the Executive Director of the FFL Startup Accelerator.
