Hi everyone,
May is in full swing and we are getting ready for the last meetups of the school year! But first things first... we wish all the heroic mama's out there a very happy mother's day. If you are a teacher, you are also a mother, so happy mother's day to you all, too!
We are very very lucky to have Prof. Colleen Lewis from Harvey Mudd with us for TWO events in June!
In addition to the June 3rd meetup on diversity Professor Lewis, creator of the edX course Programming in Scratch, will be joining us for a conversation and a resource workshop.
Colleen Lewis is a professor of computer science at Harvey Mudd College. Her specialization is in computer science education. Lewis researches how people learn computer science and how they feel about learning computer science. Her research seeks to identify effective teaching practices for creating equitable learning spaces where all students have the opportunity to learn. Her most recent projects include providing teaching tips to CS teachers at CSTeachingTips.org and on Twitter @CSTeachingTips.
Join us to add some new teaching tips to your bag of teaching tricks. Well be talking about effective pair programming strategies and freely available teaching Scratch resources designed to get you started or provide a new perspective. Well also be workshopping an item from of your curriculum resources. Youll get the chance to find the teaching tips in your own work and use these tips to help the CS community at large by sharing them on CSTeachingTips.org.
Hope to see you all there!
Cindy
