JPMartha -> 3 Ways to Manage Your Dependencies: CocoaPods, Carthage and Swift Package Manager

Swift Package Manager is a new dependency manager provided by Apple. CocoaPods and Carthage are also great alternatives. In this talk, JPMartha will spend time discussing each one and what the future looks like for dependency management on iOS.

Bio:JPMartha is a Japanese iOS developer living in Kobe, Japan. He loves pancakes and posts them on Instagram. Currently, he makes an iOS app called Player! at ookami, Inc. It was selected for App Store Best of 2015. Ookami derives from Japanese word meaning a wolf, "Be proud like a wolf, spread our wings in the world!". He also translates Realm News into Japanese.

Michael Sanderson -> Mutants in UIKit: Their Effective Use and Safe Handling

Mutable state is a central concern when writing iOS programs. Handling mutable state means keeping the interface accurate as the user navigates through the app, as the user mutates the data, as mutations happen from external sources such as the network, and as the apps lifecycle and state change.

This talk will dissect sample code from WWDC 2016 Session 419 "Protocol and Value Oriented Programming in UIKit" to look at fresh strategies from Apple UIKit engineers for handling mutable state in modern Swift iOS apps.

Bio: Michael Sanderson is an independent iOS developer and has worked on a variety of different apps including for Wegmans supermarkets and the app for George R.R. Martins World of Ice and Fire books, as well as building countless apps from scratch. A regular speaker on iOS development topics, Michaels iOS talks are known for their engaging metaphors, humor, and lively presentation.
