Born and raised in the Tri-state area, Brenden (aka @rit) has been a member of the NYC Scala scene since we started back in 2009! He's worked at MongoDB, where he authored Casbah, a well-known Scala library for MongoDB, Typesafe, Netflix, and now he's brought his skills to Bold Radius. He's been an instructor and consultant for a long time, and given many many talks during his career, so this one is not to be missed.

What I've always liked most about Brenden is even as he's adventured into the more functional side of Scala, he's always maintained a practical outlook and not forgotten his Java roots.

At this meetup, he'll be discussing Scala Macros. If you're not familiar with Scala Macros, they are an approach you can take to remove boilerplate from your code (typically in an API) by providing the compiler with instructions on what boiler plate to replace at compile time. Sounds tricky? It is, so we're lucky to have Brenden!

Special thanks to Goldman Sachs for providing the venue and food, and Bold Radius for both Brenden and its sponsorship!
