THE LINEUP:
360 Videos at The New York Times
by Thiago Pontes
Description: Over the past few months, 360 videos have gained a lot of traction in the modern web, being a new immersive way to consume video content. We believe that 360 videos can be a new way of telling stories, making videos more interactive and immersive. Our video journalists and photographers have been creating 360 content for awhile now, so adding support for it on VHS (The New York Times video player) was a natural evolution. Our users can now view this content on our platform too. Our video player is used across web and mobile web platforms, so bringing support for 360 videos in all platforms was a huge challenge, we will walk through these challenges and the different approaches to solving each of these.

As always, there will be plenty of pizza and beverages (both alcoholic and non), so come hang out with engineers and enthusiasts working on video and help us grow the Video Tech community in NYC by spreading the word.
If you're interested in speaking at Video Tech NYC, please reach out to the organizers, Josie and Sid.
Looking forward to seeing all of you!
