Sandy may have rained on our Happy Hour in November but our programming is back on track.  We invite you to join TurkishWIN at the American Turkish Society (ATS) in New York on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.

We will be presenting a series of talks entitled 'Changing It Up' with networking to follow. This event will feature Denise Fletcher, the renown corporate board member and CEO of Orienta-Royal, and Gamze Ates, New York editor of Vogue Turkey, as they discuss the challenges and opportunities of career changes that ultimately lead to success.

SPEAKERS

 

Denise Fletcher is CEO of Orienta-Royal, a company that makes investments, mostly in real estate. She has been a leader at public and private global companies. She serves on the boards of Unisys Corporation, Mazars Group (Paris), and Inovalon.  Her previous board positions include Sempra Energy, Orbitz, and Software Etc. Stores and Hospital Group (private U.K).

Denise was EVP, Finance of Vulcan Inc., responsible for aviation and CFO operations, overseeing Vulcan Real Estate and a member of the Investment Committee.  Vulcan is Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s multi-billion dollar investment company. Previously she was SVP, CFO at DaVita, a leader in kidney dialysis; EVP, CFO of MasterCard and ran Global Settlement Operations. She was SVP, CFO of Bowne, CEO of FA Group, Treasurer of New York Times Company. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wellesley, Denise holds an MCP from Harvard.  Her membership include: Council on Foreign Relations, Economic Club of NY, Academy of Women Leaders, Wellesley Business Leadership Council, Financial Executives International, Harvard Club/NYC and Women’s Forum/NY. She was named in 'Women at the Top' by Industry Week, and 'Women Ready to Run Corporate America' by Working Woman. She serves on not-for-profit board: OCNA and was on the boards of Girl Scouts/USA, YWCA/NYC, Flying Heritage Collection, and Alumni Executive Council/Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

Gamze Ates is currently a consultant and business strategist for start ups. She specializes in marketing consulting for fashion, luxury and lifestyle brands. Gamze is also the New York editor for Vogue Turkey. Previously, she was with Pershing Square Capital Management in business development and investor relations. She had also served as a Senior Executive Vice President at DHL Worldwide and Head of Emerging Markets, where she ran a $500 million business focused on creating supply chain solutions for Fortune 500 companies throuhgout 82 countries in the Middle East, Subsaharan Africa and the former Soviet Union. She joined in 2002 when Admiral Lines, Inc., a freight forwarding company she had founded and ran, was aquired by DHL.

Gamze holds a B.A. in Architecture from Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir, Turkey and an MBA from Butler University. She is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Turkish Philanthropy Funds.
