As represented by Smartphone Patent War, patents for smartphone became the most important strategic competition tool among market leaders. Recent big deals for patent acquisition among smartphone incumbents are a good example to reveal such recognition of patent as important strategic tool for competition. This talk is designed to present new business opportunities and risks for smartphone related start-ups and incumbents under the evolving recognition of patents roles.
