In celebration of Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, LetsBSocial would like to "Introduce a Single to Technology Day". it's the same day as "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day" and is taking place during National Engineers Week. Disrupting the singles space is a big challenge. The majority of singles are so programmed to focus on joining dating sites as solutions to the challenges they face, and sometimes at the exclusion of other aspects of their lives.
We want to change that, or at least be "an alternative solution". It's not to say that I don't believe in people meeting their "soul mates" and even getting married. Not at all. I was once married for a long time myself, and don't regret it. The mission is two-fold. First,
We believe that it's important to first develop a support network you can rely on at any time. Today we go through more drastic life changes much more frequently than in the past, which usually result in the need to "re-invent" ourselves. Having a network that knows us from the beginning, and is available to us at any given time, is key. It's easier to develop and be successful in personal relationships when our professional and financial lives are in order.
It's hard to go it alone. I had to, and that's why we try to make sure that you don't.
Second,
Being single is not a cause for being ostracized. That society starts seeing a single status from a positive light, and understanding why so many may choose to remain single. Some may choose it as a lifetime lifestyle, but the majority may choose it instead of the "wrong situation". And that singles see it as opportunities for self improvement, advancement, and the inevitable personal growth we all should experience in life so that they have greater chances of meeting quality partner candidates they deserve to meet and career opportunities they deserve to have a shot at!
We would like to know where you are in your career, in your social and career network, and how you would like to see it improve.
