Bloomberg, Cornell Tech, and Tech:NYC invite you to join us for the latest installment of the CornellTech@Bloomberg series, featuring Ben Lerer, CEO of Group Nine Media, co-founder of Thrillist Media Group and managing partner of Lerer Hippeau Ventures.
The digital media industry has been rocked by change in recent years. New platforms for consumption, proliferation of advertising formats, and consolidation of companies have forced executives to reinvent themselves, and their companies to deftly navigate this new frontier. Through the formation of a new viral content operation, Group Nine Media, Ben Lerer has embarked on an ambitious journey to lead this next generation of media.
Both an entrepreneur and investor, Ben has established himself as an influential member of New York's venture capital and digital media communities. His success as co-founder and CEO of media upstart Thrillist, as well as his proven investment track record in many high-profile startups, including Warby Parker, Giphy, Oscar, Casper and BuzzFeed, place Ben in a unique position to lead the charge on the future of content, commerce and digital advertising.
Ben will be joined on stage by Bloomberg's own Scarlet Fu to discuss his entrepreneurial journey, his work with his father, as well as predictions on the future of the media and venture capital industries.

Ben Lerer is the CEO of Group Nine Media, a new digital media holding company consisting of Thrillist, NowThis, The Dodo, and Seeker. He is the co-founder of Thrillist. Lerer was among Ernst & Young's 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year Award Winners, Vanity Fair's Next Establishments, Crain's 40 under 40, Forbes' list of Most Powerful CEOs Under 40, AdWeek's Young Influentials, Inc's "30 under 30" and Entrepreneur Magazine's Top 5 Entrepreneurs of the Year.
Ben is also a managing partner of Lerer Hippeau Ventures, New York's most active early-stage technology fund. He chairs the Board of Directors for Urban Upbound, a New York non-profit organization, and is an Associate Member of the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS). Ben sits on the Board of Directors for Casper, the Advisory Board for Refinery29, the Board of RaisedByUs and is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for JackThreads. He is also an an active mentor for NYC Venture Fellows, TechStars and E[nstitute].
