Abstract: In this talk, Mikhail Nakhimovich will be going through the steps he took at NY Times to take something from an idea and transform it into a full fledged open source library on Maven Central. Topics will include project structure, signing up for public maven account, creating PGP keys and all the other gritty details the internet doesn't tell you about.

Speaker Bio:Mikhail Nakhimovichis a senior Android developer at the New York Times and a Google Developer Expert in Android.

7:30pm Lightning Talk: 3 reasons why Kotlin should be on your road-map


Kotlin is a JVM Language that is growing in use and popularity especially in the Android community. In this lightning talk Ken will give a quick overview of the language, it's capabilities and uses, and the tools available to get started with Kotlin.

Speaker Bio: Kenneth Ford is a Back-End Software Engineer for Capital One. He writes Java for most of his day but plays around with Python, Go, and lately Kotlin. Before Capital One he was an intern for UnitedHealth Group and Bachinit.
