On January 26th, Frog Valley, in partnership with CAPCO, is hosting a special speakers' panel and networking event focused on Venture Capital.
Senior VC professionals from leading organisations will be discussing their views around key trends of the sector in 2017, e.g.:
What are the sectors and technologies getting the attention of VCs at the moment?
What investment types are VCs looking for?
What kind of expectations entrepreneurs should anticipate in order to secure funding (e.g. in terms of business model and value proposition)?
Our panel's speakers will be:
Stefan Glaenzer, Founding Partner of Passion Capital
Passion Capital was created by Stefan in 2011, and has since been successfully funding 60+ early stage tech companies.
Stefan was recently named the best angel investor in Europe by readers and editors of TechCrunch Europe. Stefan holds a PhD from the University of Hamburg, and has been teaching at WHU business school in Germany.
Cornel Chiriac, Managing Partner of London Venture Factory
London Venture Factory is an angel investing fund, with 12 investments in the past year.
Cornel has been running the Chicago Booth Angels Network investments since 2015; he is also a Microsoft Ventures mentor. He was previously a corporate VC with the World Gold Council, a strategy consultant with LEK Consulting, and a consumer goods entrepreneur in the US and Eastern Europe. Cornel holds an MBA from Chicago Booth.
Gary Stewart, Director of Wayra UK and Wayra UnLtd.
Wayra is Telefonica's Corporate Venture Capital arm for digital start-ups in Europe and Latin America, which has invested in more than 325 start-ups over the last 2 years. Through Wayra in the UK, Telefonica O2 invests in cohorts of 20 for-profit businesses, but also in cohorts of 10 social ventures alongside the British Cabinet Office.
Gary is also an Associate Professor at IE Business School in Spain, and was previously Director of their venture lab. Before that, he was CEO of Nuroa Internet, and an attorney at Freshfields and Simpson Thacher. Gary holds a JD from Yale Law School and a BA from Yale University.
Fernando Valda, Investment Director at Nord Engine Capital
Nord Engine Capital is a Venture Capital fund bringing European and North American growth companies into the Chinese market, especially those active in cleantech, medtech, artificial intelligence and big data.
Fernando was previously an Investment Director at FIM Services, and an energy consulting Director at PwC. Fernando holds an MBA from London Business School.

Hernando Bunuan, Venture Advisor at Sigma Technologies Global, also President of Chicago Booth Alumni Club in the UK
Hernando is a financial advisor of venture capital investors, business angels, and growth companies - but also a regular public speaker. He was previously an investment banker with Barclays, and an M&A consultant with KPMG. Hernando holds an MBA from Chicago Booth.
And as usual, the panel will be followed by a networking session over a glass of wine!
