Peter Bjrn Larsen is the Director of the City Data Exchange for the Hitachi Insight Group and Hitachi Consulting in Copenhagen

The City Data Exchange is a marketplace where data suppliers and data consumers from both public and the private sector can buy and sell data. It is a central part of the smart city strategy in Copenhagen.

In the past year Peter has spoken to 400 businesses, universities, organizations and cities in order to build up an data ecosystem around our marketplace for data. This has provided himself and Hitachi with a very good insight into why open data portals are failing, the barriers in companies for working with data, and what is needed to make data portals a success.

Peter has 15 years experience with economic development in cities and has been working with the smart city concept for more than 6 years. He is a regular speaker at major conference and events around the world. Peter has been an involved as smart city advisor for the EU Commission, Danish Ministries, and several European cities and companies.
