EVENT DETAILS |
Trade secrets have achieved a new prominence in business at the state, national, and international level. Brooklyn Law School's annual Trade Secrets Institute Symposium will bring together experts from government, academia, and private practice to discuss recent developments in the field during two panels that examine these new trends.
PANEL 1, Federal Trade Secret Reform:
The law now stands at the threshold of a major reform in Congress. The leading current proposal is the Defend Trade Secrets Act, introduced by Senators Coons and Hatch, which would create a civil cause of action in federal court to supplement trade secret enforcement at the state level.
PANEL 2, Startups and Trade Secrets Law:
Protecting trade secret information is a major legal challenge for entrepreneurs and new businesses. Thanks in part to recent changes in patent law, trade secrets have never been more important to the emerging innovation economy.
