Our Speakers:

Dr. Elena Colicino is a postdoctoral research scientist in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, working with Dr. Andrea Baccarelli and specializing in environmental epidemiology and biostatistics.

She received her doctorate in Statistics from the Bocconi University in 2012 and MSc in Statistics and Economics from Bicocca University in 2007. Dr. Colicinos training includes applied statistical methods for cognitive functions and clinical trials. She additionally used geospatial mapping and epigenetics in order to identify the effects of ambient air pollution in vulnerable populations. Dr. Colicinos current research aims to build solid methods able to reflect current and past exposures to metals and ambient air pollution.

Daniela Vazquez:

Daniela is originally an Economist, but only worked in that field briefly in the Academia. Right when she finished her studies she took a job at Equifax Uruguay (a little country in South America, where she also lives) and thats when she discovered Data Science and fell in love with it! She is now transitioning into a full Data Scientist, training in R, Machine Learning, Data Visualization and now engaging in the NASA Datanauts program as one of the participants of the Spring Class 2017. She is involved in R-Ladies as co-organizer of the Buenos Aires chapter.
