<P><SPAN STYLE="color: #333333; font-family: arial; font-size: medium;"><STRONG>TALK DESCRIPTION:</STRONG> Helsinki Design Lab was an initiative of the Finnish Innovation Fund aimed at developing the capability within government to grapple with complex, cross-silo challenges. From 2009-2013 HDL developed projects ranging from a two week academy for food entrepreneurs to a full city block, all with an eye towards redesigning the systems that govern our our common lives. Boyer will present a capsule history of HDL from start to finish, and along the way we'll discuss the unique challenges of taking design into the heart of government.</SPAN></P>

<P><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; color: #333333;"><STRONG>BIO:</STRONG> Bryan is co-founder of Makeshift Society, a shared workspace and community center for creatives in San Francisco and Brooklyn. He's also partner at Dash Marshall, a small studio designing buildings and the spaces between them, and serves on the Board of Directors at Public Policy Lab in NYC. PreviouslyBryan was a founding member of Helsinki Design Lab, an internationally-recognized platform for strategic design.
