7:00PM - 8:00PM - Do That Crazy Hand Jive: Skeletal Hand Tracking for VR and Beyond!

Skeletal hand tracking technology, or technology that precisely tracks your fingers down to each bone, promises to enable more subtle and precise natural input than ever before. 3Gear Systems is a small company in SF that claims to have developed the most robust skeletal tracking software in the world, for depth sensing cameras.

In this talk, 3Gear co-founder Robert Wang will explore some of the applications and technical challenges of precisely tracking hands and fingers. A key application he will focus on is VR (virtual reality). 3Gear's skeletal hand tracking technology brings your hands into VR for both casual and 3D manipulation use cases.

Rob will demonstrate the company's latest software, which works on a variety of depth sensors and will show interactions for both PC/kiosk and VR applications.

About Robert Wang:

Robert Wang is a founder at 3Gear Systems, a San Francisco-based software company developing the world's most robust skeletal hand tracking software. Prior to starting 3Gear, Rob received his Ph.D. from MIT in EECS, where he investigated tracking hands using computer vision and color gloves. In his spare time, Rob is an avid wind surfer.
