Description
Travel 2.0 meetup will feature Berlin Startup Gidsy.com, Airbnb for authentic travel experiences. Gidsy’s Founder and CEO Edial Dekker will tell his founder stories, have an in-depth and interactive discussion about his lessons learned, and look at the trend in the peer-to-peer marketplace. His co-founder and CPO Floris Dekker will also attend.

Gidsy recently raised $1.4 million seed Investment from Ashton Kutcher and other notable investors: http://eu.techcrunch.com/2012/01/13/ashton-kutcher-invests-in-gidsy-an-airbnb-for-travel-experiences/

Gidsy is a website where people can offer and book activities. There’s a London blacksmith offering a silver-ring-making workshop, a retired police offer who shows you around the Red Light District in Amsterdam, a flat tire workshop in SF and the NYC Chinatown dumpling tour… All sorts of unique things to do.

Edial Dekker (CEO of Gidsy) co-founded Hack de Overheid, the biggest open-data movement in The Netherlands when he was 22. During his New Media studies on the University of Amsterdam, he got into data-visualizations, cities and technology. After graduating on network theory, he moved to Berlin to start an interactive design studio to put theory into practice. He is now the CEO of Gidsy.

Network with fellow startup entrepreneurs and industry folks in travel, social media, and social commerce. As always, we’ll have beer!
