Join Damsels in Design, a professional networking organization for women in design, for their Women in Design & Technology conversation series celebrating women entrepreneurs that have made great strides in the design and technology arenas.
The three-part series kicks-off with "How To Quit Your Day Job: The Launch of Nestio.com", a discussion with Caren Maio, CEO and Co-founder of Nestio. This presentation, moderated by Kristina Drury of TYTHEDesign and a member of Damsels in Design, will address the components of creating, launching and managing a start-up company. A former professional in marketing and sales development at The Wall Street Journal, Maio "quit her day job," graduated from the first TechStars class, and joined the ranks of successful entrepreneurs in New York City. With initial seed funding secured from a number of angel investors, her company is developing its website and mobile capabilities to become the premier apartment search site.
What challenges has Maio encountered and what advantages does she have as a woman in tech? What are her secrets to success and advice for first-time entrepreneurs? Maio will address these questions and give many personal and professional anecdotes for excelling in the design and technology fields as an entrepreneur.
