Hi everyone, we are excited to have Arie from Appstori take a few minutes to talk about what they are working on and how it can benefit us as mobile developers.
AppStori is a collaboration platform for developers and consumers to help discover the next great mobile app
Arie is co-founder of AppStori and a Venture Partner at DreamIt Ventures, one of the top accelerators in the world. Hes been actively involved in the New York tech community as an investor and entrepreneur and currently sits on the boards of SeatGeek, Adaptly, and BiznessApps. He has been published in Mashable, Venture Beat and the Wall Street Journal.
This will be followed by our original presentation: "Going Mobile: Lessons in transitioning from the enterprise".
After 11 years as an enterprise software developer, I decided to take the plunge into mobile development. Over the past 2 years I have worked on 5 apps on multiple platforms iOS, Android and Windows Phone. Several have been featured on the app store, with one breaking into the top 10 free apps.
I will share what I learned in my transition to mobile development. Essentially there are 5 main areas where developing for mobile is significantly different than developing enterprise apps:
CPU
Screen Size
Memory
Network
User Expectation
I will explain the issues that come up in each of these areas and provide some guidance on how to deal with them.
