Media has an immense capacity to accelerate social progress or do just the opposite. At its core, media is a feedback mechanism for society and like any feedback mechanism, it has the capacity to encourage as well as inhibit thoughts, ideas, and actions on a multitude of levels. So a key question we must ask ourselves when thinking about the future of media is: What kind of content needs to be produced that creates a feedback loop enhancing societys capacity to solve problems vs. diminishes it. 

The media industry is in a time of great change and with it brings daunting challenges as well as new opportunities. Join us for a discussion with editors and journalists from Solutions Journalism, NYTs, Quartz, Upworthy and Latino USA (NPR) as we take a deep dive into the ways media is evolving, how it can be used as a vehicle to help people make sense an increasingly complex world, as well as how stories and journalism can be used to give a voice to the ideas, actions, and people having a positive impact in the world.

Tina Rosenberg is co-writer of the New York Times Fixes column and co-founder of the Solutions Journalism Network. She is a longtime New York Times writer, for the editorial page and the SundaY magazine. Her articles have appeared in dozens of magazines, including The New Yorker, Rolling Stone and Foreign Policy. She is the author of three books: Children of Cain: Violence and the Violent in Latin America; The Haunted Land: Facing Europe's Ghosts after Communism; and Join the Club: How Peer Pressure Can Transform the World. Nadia Reiman has been a radio producer since 2005. Before joining the Latino USAteam as a Senior Editor, Nadia produced for StoryCorps. Her work there on 9/11 stories earned her a Peabody Award. She has also mixed audio for animations, assisted on podcasts for magazines, and program managed translations for Canon Latin America. Nadia has also produced for None on Record, editing and mixing stories of queer Africans, and worked on a Spanish language radio show called Epicentro based out of Washington, DC. She graduated from Kenyon College with a double major in International Studies and Spanish Literature.
