Interested in getting involved with science advocacy? Readyto meet up with some other scientists? Hoping to catch up with other 500 WS members whom you haven't seen for a long time? Or, just for a beer & a relaxing weekday evening? We'd be thrilled to have you.

Over 20,000 women of STEM & supporters from more than 100 countries have signed in support of 500 Women Scientists, pledging to build an inclusive scientific community dedicated to training a more diverse group of future leaders in science & to use the language of science to bridge divides & enhance global diplomacy.

WHO WE ARE

500 Women Scientistsis a grassroots organization started by four women who met in graduate school at CU Boulder & who maintained friendships & collaborations after jobs & life took them away from Boulder. Immediately following the November 2016 election, we published an open letter re-affirming our commitment to speak up for science & for women, minorities, immigrants, people with disabilities, & LGBTQIA.

500 Women Scientists works to build communities & foster real change that comes fromsmall groups, not large crowds. OurLocal Podshelp create those deep roots through strong, personal relationships. Local Pods are where members meet regularly, develop a support network, make strategic plans, & take action. Pods focus on issues that resonate in their communities, rooted in our mission & values.

WHY "500"WOMEN SCIENTISTS?

We wrote our open letter with no agenda for building a grassroots movement & hoped to get 500 signatures ("500" seemed aspirational). We surpassed that goal within hours of posting the letter & we continue to reach more & more women of STEM & supporters across the world.
