Description
Social Media 2013: What's new and worth paying attention to; and what to skip - by Sree Sreenivasan, Chief Digital Officer of Columbia University and social-media blogger at CNET News.

Social media's importance in various aspects of business has continued to grow dramatically - as has the hype and the potential pitfalls. In a talk created from trainings he does for senior executives, Prof. Sreenivasan will help us think through the big-picture developments as well as practical, hands-on tips. All levels of experience welcome.

Sree Sreenivasan (@Sree) is Columbia University's first Chief Digital Officer and a member of the faculty of Columbia Journalism School, where he teaches social and digital media. He writes the SreeTips blog for CNET and appears regularly on CBS and elsewhere to talk tech. For more than eight years, he served as technology reporter for WABC-TV and WNBC-TV in NYC. In 2010, a Manhattan-news site he helped create, DNAinfo.com, was named one of the six hottest news startups by BusinessInsider. He was named one of AdAge's 25 media people to follow on Twitter; and one of Poynter's 35 most influential people in social media.

"TiE Bootstrap" is a focused series of panel discussions and workshops for entrepreneurs considering a new venture or in the Growth stage. In the panel discussions we will hear from leaders and peers on their experiences, best practices, actionable strategy and tactical advice.
