Description
In this intuitive hands-on workshop, you will learn to create and sell your own basic iPhone and iPad apps. No programming experience is necessary and no iPhone required; we will be using a iPhone/iPad simulator in class.
It is not a programming class, but we’re going to take a look at the basics of the Objective-C language used to create apps, as well as the app development environment and the elements of app design. You'll also learn where to download free sample code that might be useful for your own projects.
There’s a lot to learn in Objective-C. Instead of covering it in depth, this class will deal with a few topics that you’re most likely to encounter in iPhone development. Code templates will be used and discussed in the class. You'll leave the class with a functioning app and the knowledge to build more on your own!
While no programming experience is required, you will be working with code. We recommend reading at least a basic primer on coding and programming before the first day of class, so the terms you encounter are a bit more familiar. This class will take place in our Media Lab, equipped with fully-loaded iMac design workstations. Basic Macintosh computer literacy is required for this course.
