<P>The former Editor of Slate and current CEO of Atlas Obscura will visit the World Room on Monday to talk with students about his career, the future of online journalism, and his expanding new venture.<SPAN STYLE="line-height: 1.6em;"></SPAN></P>
<P>Plotz began at Slate when it was founded in 1996. He was named Editor of the online magazine in 2008 and served in that role until last year. Now, he is the CEO of Atlas Obscura, an online media company and the definitive guide to the world's wondrous and curious places. The publication aims to be the nice' Vice, or this generation's National Geographic.</P>
<P>With investors like The New York Times, Graham Holdings, Business Insider founder Henry Blodget, Bleacher Report founder Bryan Goldberg, and entrepreneur John Battelle, Atlas Obscura is set to re-launch this spring with an expanded staff.</P>
<P>Plotz is the author of two books and a co-host of the Slate Political Gabfest podcast.</P>
<P>The World Room is on the third floor of the Journalism building on Columbia's Morningside Heights campus.</P>
