<P><SPAN>Genspace is proud to announce our Brooklyn Barcoding Program, an initiative that provides much-needed science outreach & STEAM education to the New York area.</SPAN>A key component of our new Brooklyn Barcoding Program is a Genomics Lecture & Workshop series, which is intended to introduce audiences to contemporary issues in genomic research.</P>
<P>We are excited to welcome Karen Hogan as the second lecturer in the series.</P>
<P><SPAN><STRONG>Karen Hogan, Ph.D.</STRONG>, Teaching Laboratory Coordinator, Department of Biology, School of Arts & Sciences, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Hogan earned her B.S. in Environmental Biology at the University of Dayton & Ph.D. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from The University of Pennsylvania. She develops curriculum & teaches undergraduate laboratory courses in introductory biology, microbiology, & biological design. Dr. Hogan has previously served as a researcher in wetland restoration at the University of Dayton, a staff scientist in stream ecology for the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, & a research consultant for the Philadelphia Water Department & American Water Works Association.Most recently Dr. Hogan worked on introducing a inquiry-based multi-week metagenomics laboratory module to over 500 students in the introductory laboratory courses in the Department of Biology at the University of Pennsylvania.</SPAN></P>
