Update: A limited number of Raspberry Pi Boards will be available for $40 each, we're having them express shipped.
The MakerBar invites you to meet two very special guests - Eben and Liz Upton, the visionaries behind the Raspberry Pi.
In 2006, Eben had an impossible idea - a computer cheap enough that it could be hacked without a second thought, and so versatile that it challenged kids to code. Six years later, the Raspberry Pi has blown past one million sales and Mr. Upton's name is dropped in hackerspaces and boardrooms alike. Now's your chance to shake his hand.
Eben is on a worldwide tour from the UK to see his brainchild in action, and he's graciously decided to drop by the MakerBar. Join us on the evening of the 26th to welcome Eben to the United States, hear a firsthand account of the game-changing rise of the Pi, and show off your RasPi project to the man who started it all.
We'll also have five-minute lightning talks - you're welcome to give one! - and lots of peripherals set up to hack on your Pi. Raspberry Pi's will be available to purchase, and pizza is included in the admission fee. Feel free to bring your projects and Pi.
Things you should know:
You're welcome to give a five-minute lightning talk on anything Pi related. Your project, your hack, your story, a quick how-to - we'll pick up to nine and hand you the mike!
Attendance is limited to 40 people. The admission fee is nonrefundable under all circumstances.
Raspberry Pi Model B's will be available for $65. The extra cost covers overnight shipping and to support the nonprofit MakerBar. They are first-come first-served.
The MakerBar can be accessed via public transportation and by car. Parking is available on request.
