The event is scheduled for Friday, October 7th (evening) through Sunday, October 9th (afternoon) at Galvanizes new campus at 315 Hudson Street in New York Citys SoHo neighborhood, an area which in recent years has become a mecca for startups. The event is open to all blockchain developers!! IBM anticipates participation from local corporate enterprises, startups, students, and fintech enthusiasts.
At the hackathon, developers will have access to a cutting-edge blockchain development environment. They will have access to the crucial tools necessary to build a real enterprise-class cloud application at scale, today! The developer-friendly, open-standards-based Bluemix catalog includes over 100 tools and services of the most prominent open-source technologies combined with IBM and third-party services like Watson, Internet of Things, Big Data & Analytics, and Mobile, among many others.

Blockchain is a technology for a new generation of transactional applications that establishes trust, accountability and transparency while streamlining business processes. Originally made famous by bitcoin, this technology has significant disruptive potential. With it, the world's most fundamental business interactions can be re-imagined and new styles of digital interactions can be facilitated. Blockchain has the potential to vastly reduce the cost and complexity of cross-enterprise business processes. The technology makes it easier to create cost-efficient business networks where virtually anything of value can be tracked and tradedwithout requiring a central point of control.
