For years you came to know George Zimmer as the dapper gentleman with the gravelly voice in the TV commercial claiming, Youll like the way you look. I guarantee it, in one of his suits from the Mens Wearhouse. But two years ago, Zimmer was unceremoniously fired from the company he founded after a fight with his board. Zimmer had built the company into a $2 billion behemoth over the course of 40 years.

Today, Zimmer is back and doing what he does best working with quality garments at an affordable price. His new ventures are zTailors and Generation Tux. zTailors is a network of tailors who come to ones office or residence to make on-site adjustments to their suits. And Generation Tux is a recently launched tuxedo rental business.

Zimmer has poured millions of his own money into the new ventures.

Were looking to evolve the tuxedo rental business, Zimmer told Forbes recently. Most tuxedos are rented by going into a retail store three different times. By putting it online we think were making it much more convenient for our customer.

Zimmer faces myriad challenges in his new ventures, not to mention stiff competition from his former company and other retailers.

Yet he is taking them on with the same zest he has showcased in the Mens Wearhouse commercials. Part of the value proposition, of course, is Zimmers own name, which is front and center on the companies Web sites.

Zimmer will join the HBS Club of NY to discuss his new businesses, conscious capitalism, the state of retail and the challenges he faces in scaling the two businesses. Join us for what is sure to be an exciting conversation.
