David Hornik is a General Partner at August Capital where he invests in consumer & enterprise software & services. He has worked closely with startups for the last 20 years. Prior to joining August, David was a litigator at Cravath Swaine & Moore, & corporate & licensing attorney at Venture Law Group & Perkins Coie. David is the author of the first venture capital blog, VentureBlog, & the first venture capital podcast, VentureCast. He is the founder & producer of The Lobby conferences, a series of events that gather the thought leaders in consumer & enterprise technology. David holds an AB in Computer Music from Stanford, an M.Phil in Criminology from Cambridge University, & a JD from Harvard Law School. David teaches entrepreneurship & venture capital at Harvard Law School & at Stanford Business School. Along with sitting on the boards of numerous technology startups, David also sits on the board of GLAAD.
Mar Perez is a Principal for InCube Ventures & VentureHealth, investment funds focused on disruptive healthcare innovation based in San Jose, California. In her role, Mar wears multiple hats - from screening over 500 deals per year & managing due diligence to speaking in public forums & building relationships with Limited Partners. She also manages the Fund's online presence, & contributes to organizational strategy. She is passionate about breakthroughs that can change medicine. She has spent her career in life sciences, in governmental relations & sales with Johnson & Johnson. When Mar joined about InCube, she fell in love with the opportunity to help investors & entrepreneurs dramatically improve the lives of patients. Mar holds an international MBA & has also graduated from the Kauffman Fellows program, where she completed a two-year course focused on the next generation of leaders in venture capital. Born & raised in Spain, Mar lived in Australia & the United Kingdom prior to relocating to Silicon Valley, California - her current home.
