Algorithms are everywhere. From taking an elevator to your office to making music, we use algorithms every day to solve problems. Developers routinely use algorithms to solve programming issues such as:
How will I keep this credit card information secure when I send it?
How can I store this data so I can retrieve it quickly?
How do I make this file smaller so it is easier to share?
In this workshop, we will discuss what an algorithm is, introduce the idea of algorithmic complexity (big O notation), demonstrate sort and search algorithms (with a hands-on demonstrations), and finish with an overview of the many types of algorithms out there.
As a prerequisite, you should have basic familiarity with a programming language (like by having attended our intro to JavaScript workshop or know a back-end language). Not sure if you qualify?Email us.
If you'd like to attend but cannot afford the cost, pleaserequest a GDI scholarship.
