EVENT DETAILS |
BRIC is very proud to announce BRIC FLIX, a free film screening and conversation series at BRIC Arts | Media House- offering premieres, shorts, and web series projects, that reflect the excitement, diversity, and creativity of Brooklyn.
In this installment of the BRIC FLIX film series 'Interactive Media for Social Good', we've partnered with Made in NY Media Center by IFP. The evening will feature a discussion and exhibition of interactive media works featuring Luisa Dantas, creator of the web documentary Land of Opportunity, Shannon Carroll, creator of the audio walking tour Southside Stories, and Ram Devineni, creator of augmented reality comic book Priya's Shakti. The topics are diverse: a recent history of Williamsburg Brooklyn, housing displacement in the wake of natural disaster, and creating supportive community for victims of sexual assault. But, these works all intrigue an audience with significant place-based and social issues, providing further illumination on the topic, and inciting an audience to action.

FEATURED PROJECTS:
Luisa Dantas, Land of Opportunity
Rooted in post-Katrina New Orleans, Land of Opportunity is an ongoing exploration of the often contentious process of community redevelopment in the face of crisis/disaster. Through perspectives that travel across media, including a film and interactive web platform, the project explores the fundamental question: What kinds of communities do we want to (re)build in the 21st century?
