Next Tuesday, join us in Brooklyn for the second talk in our Give A Damn series, in which well spotlight fearless creatives that found a way to speak to an underserved audience through their unique storytelling approaches.

Huges Rachael Feinman will lead a Q&A with Jessica Grose (editor-in-chief of Lenny Letter), Matt DAvella (an award-winning filmmaker known for the documentary Minimalism), & Deva Pardue (the graphic designer of The Wing and For All Womankind),about how to approach storytelling effectively to communicate a passion & develop a following.

Speakers:

Jessica Grose is the editor-in-chief of Lenny, the email newsletter from Lena Dunham & Jenni Konner. She was formerly a senior editor at Slate. She is the author of the novels Soulmates & Sad Desk Salad, & her essays & journalism have appeared in The New York Times, Elle, Businessweek, Fast Company, & many other publications.

Deva Pardue is a Brooklyn-based graphic designer, originally from the Republic of Ireland. She is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York from which she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She worked at Pentagram Design in New York from 2012 to 2016 under the direction of Emily Oberman on a variety of identity & editorial design projects for clients such as the The Wing, NBC, & the Minneapolis Institute of Art. In 2016 Deva founded For All Womankind, a design initiative for fempowerment, which raised over $12,000 in five months for organizations working to advance women's rights. Deva's client list currently includes the nonprofit organizations ArtTable, a program for women in the arts, & Girls Build LA, an initiative for young girls to close the gender gap in STEM fields.

Matt DAvellais a Brooklyn-based commercial & documentary filmmaker. Hes best known for directing Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things. The film won Best Documentary at the Fort McMurray International Film Festival & was one of the highest-grossing indie docs of 2016. Hes the host of The Ground Up Show on iTunes, a podcast that encourages creatives to overcome doubt & execute on their vision.
