MATTERNESS
What Fearless Leaders Know About the Power and Promise of Social Media

Join us for a lively conversation between Allison and Henry Timms, Executive Director of the 92nd Street Y, about leading fearlessly in a world powered by social media. Allison will discuss her new book in which she dispels myths about the dangers of working in a social world, and describes how and why making people matter more is the key to success.

If CRM, HR, and Leadership had a social media lovechild, they'd call it Matterness.

Allison Fine is among the pre-eminent guides to the social media revolution. Her gift is for converting uncertainty over rapid change into excitement over remaking organizations by the least expensive and most profitable means available: connecting with others. In addition to Matterness, She is co-author of the bestselling The Networked Nonprofit, and author of Momentum: Igniting Social Change in the Connected Age. Allison is the author of several papers on the ways that social media are affecting our political and social lives. She edited a collection of essays, Rebooting America, for Personal Democracy Media about transformative ways to reinvent 21st century democracy using new media tools. Her work has appeared in HBR.org, Stanford Social Innovation Review, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, and Inc. She hosts a monthly podcast, What's the Big Idea? for the Chronicle of Philanthropy.

Henry Timms is executive director of 92nd Street Y, the renowned cultural and community center. More than 300,000 people visit 92Y annually, and millions more participate in 92Y's digital and online initiatives. Henry oversees the organization's 40+ businesses, including critically-acclaimed performing and visual arts programs; a world-renowned series of talks and readings; a huge range of family and wellness programming; professional development opportunities; and more.
