The medical community is deploying robotic technology to enhance the performance of surgeons and improve patient outcomes. What role will robotics play in the future of medicine, especially in the operating room? Technology developers and surgeons from the region will review recent developments, assess the current state of the art, and discuss the future direction of this technology. Speakers include academic researchers, medical practitioners and engineers building these robotic systems. Join NYC Bio, NYU Incubator and Honeybee Robotics for an exciting night about the future of Robotic Technology in Medicine and Surgery.

Speakers:

Peter Allen - Peter Allen is a Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University. His research focuses on robotic grasping, 3D vision, and medical robotics.

Douglas Scherr - Douglas Scherr is Clinical Director of Urologic Oncology at Weill Cornell Medical College, who has performed over 500 robotic surgeries using Intuitive Surgical's Da Vinci robotic system. He is a leader in the field of robotic surgery and directs research into urologic cancer.

Jerry Korten - Jerry Korten is a medical device executive and entrepreneur with a 30-year history of starting, building and exiting companies, including serving as CEO of Versamed, Inc. when it was sold to GE Healthcare in 2008. He is CEO of Cold Steel Laser, which is developing a laser scalpel technology in association with Memorial Sloan-Kettering.
