<P><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">Calling all future and current geeks ages 10-15!!! Geek School is an after school program focused on developing the necessary intellectual, collaborative, and social skills to brand yourself as a full fledged Maker. Whether coding our first Pong Game in JavaScript, engineering the perfect paper airplane launcher, prototyping sustainable solutions to real world problems, or building models for a student-created RPG, Geek School allows middle and highschool kids the chance to begin to bring the STEM-based ideas they learn in their classroom to life.</SPAN></P>
<P STYLE="margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;"><SPAN><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium;">Hands-on science, technology, and engineering workshops are taught by DOE certified instructor, Chris O'Brien. Students learn both high tech and old school engineering, design, and fabrication. Projects change every week and are adapted to the ages and interests of teens/tweens present.</SPAN> </SPAN></P>

<P STYLE="margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;">We reserve the right to cancel a session if we do not have a minimum amount of students. If we cancel, we will refund you in full and notify you.</SPAN></P>
<P STYLE="margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;"><SPAN STYLE="font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;">You may cancel and get a full refund up to five days before the class. After that, refunds are contingent on us being able to fill your seat. Under no circumstances do we offer refunds to individuals who cancel on the same day. This ruins the party for everyone. </SPAN></P>

<P STYLE="margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;"><SPAN STYLE="font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: medium;"><STRONG>Chris O'Brien</STRONG> has an MA in TESOL education from CUNY, Hunter's College and a BA in Political Science and English from CUNY CSI. He taught grades 6-8 at William McKinley Middle School JH 259 from 2011-2013 and is an adjunct lecturer at Professional Business College. He taught our Young Maker Camp this summer and led the Make A Difference Challenge for 6th and 7th graders last spring at SI MakerSpace in which students designed and built prototypes for socially responsible products including water filtration/desalination systems, solar and wind powered projects and more. He is currently the Education Director at SI MakerSpace.</SPAN></P>
