As a female founder, what kind of challenges might you face getting funded? Our experts will tell you their experience getting their companies off the ground, even while pregnant. As part of the Female Founder Initiative at Cyrus Innovation, we're committed to helping people learn about what's most important in building a successful business. Our first two events were huge successes and we hope this one will be just as informative. This month, we're concentrating on Family and Funding. We have an amazing panel of three entrepreneurs to cover all of your questions, such as: Are you a founder and worried about the obstacles of being a mother and businesswoman? Wondering how to approach venture capitalists and be taken seriously as a smart investment? Want to know how to talk to investors about your work/life balance? Not sure what your rights are for when speaking with investors? Looking for solidarity and support among women who have had similar experiences? Topics to be covered: Raising a friends and family round Getting funded while pregnant or newly a parent Unacceptable questions investors ask you when you're a woman of childbearing age Panel moderated by Andrea Turner Moffitt of Plum Alley. After a decade on Wall Street and inspired by the incredible momentum of women's rising economic power, Andrea set out to create a modern platform for women. Plum Alley and 1000 Strong intend on increasing women's engagement by investing on their terms to enhance their lives, grow wealth, and effect change in the world. Panelist Details: Rachel Kaplowitz is a young visionary and CEO at Honey. After graduating from college, she worked her way up to Director of Business Development at Condition, where she had a range of responsibilities and gained invaluable experience she later applied to Honey, which she co-founded. She's forward thinking, strategic and professional and knows firsthand how to position herself to investors. She raised $1M while 9 months pregnant. Emma Weisberg founded Blinkbuggy so that she and other engaged parents could capture, organize, and share their families' memories. Before that, Emma spent eight years at Google on their consumer strategy teams. She has developed a unique area of expertise that combines a deep knowledge of the online consumer marketplace with business strategy and operations. Most importantly, Emma is the mother of two amazing children (older girl, younger boy) who inspired the idea for Blinkbuggy. Kelsey Recht of Venuebook is an online media entrepreneur with finance and business development experience. After graduating from Kellogg School of Management with an MBA, she co-founded Venuebook and became its CEO. Kelsey went back to work 2 weeks after her daughter was born and is currently raising a Series A round. Diana Lovett founded Ciss out of a passion for social justice.
