At this Tech Talks, we'll hear from three tremendous women and accomplished technologists on the theme of "Becoming a Better Developer." Topics will range from their own best practices and continued learnings, to how to create a culture of empowered developers. Join us!

SPEAKERS:

Rachel Laycock Head of Technology (North America) at Thoughtworks

Rachel is the Head of Technology for North America at ThoughtWorks and is based in New York. She has over 12 years of experience in software delivery, having worked on a wide range of technologies and the integration of many disparate systems. At ThoughtWorks, she has coached teams on Agile and Continuous Delivery technical practices.She contributes to and drives the regional technology strategy, and is a conduit between the technical teams on the ground and global technical leadership.She is also a member of the Technical Advisory Board to the CTO, which regularly produces theThoughtWorks Technology Radar.She is fascinated by problem solving and has discovered that people problems are often more difficult to solve than software ones.

April is the Head of Risk Technology at AQR Capital Management and one of the organizers of the Software Craftsmanship NYC Meetup. She has over 15 years experience building software that both drives and enhances business innovation. She coaches and provides training in Agile and engineering practices, helping teams to experiment and gain fluency in new technical practices. She is driven by continuous improvement, challenging the accepted norms in development, and the knowledge that there is always something new to learn.
